1 Million vs 1 cent, which do you choose?

Happy 2017, and I believe everyone has a fantastic December and now it's a brand new start.

I was being asked this question during December,

"Given 1 million, vs 1 cent compounded daily, which do you choose"?

"How about 2 million vs 1 cent compounded daily?"

"How about 3 million vs 1 cent compounded daily?"

I know which I will choose.

Which do you choose, and Why?

Watch what happen with the outcome of choosing both?

It's pretty obvious isn't it?

Often, we may be attracted immediately to $1 million, because it's instant. Immediately you get $ 1 million to do whatever you want, rather than 1 cent compounded daily. 1 cent seems too small compare to $1 million.

Back to the basic of compounding, we know the real big money is when it's compounded, it's a delay gratification.

Like what Albert Einstein mentioned

If I wasn't step into HFF Franchise business, I may choose $1 million.

When I was working in a bank, I used to enjoy the good salary, it was a instant gratification, similar to if I get the $1 million. I can use the $1 million immediately, yet will the money continue to grow or compound continuously for 3 years, 6 years, 10 years and for life? Probably not.

Similar in other businesses be it traditional business or self-employed businesses, is the income you are working compounding continuously? Are they instant or delayed gratification?

What happen if you stop working for 1 years, 3 years and 6 years? Can the income continue to compound?

What is the dream you want to achieve, to travel with your family and spend more time with them?

To have more time to enjoy your desired lifestyle?

Don't let instant gratification to steal your dream. Keep calm and let compounding works for you in 2017

Have a great start of 2017

Cheers

Are you Director of your Life?

Life is short, do you make a promise to have a fulfilling life? We only have one shot at life, and you are the director of your life.

How do you want to create your life script?

Most people chooses to be actor in other people's script, living on someone else's life.

I love one of Steve Job's quotes

In a recent popular discussion, about 7 top regrets of the dying and how we can use them to live a more fulfilling life.

1. I wish I had lived my own life, rather than how society taught me to live.

There are many things society teaches us about the stages of life. You go to school, get a good job, buy a house, get married, have kids.

While this plan may work for some, it’s certainly not a one-size-fits-all plan.

A lot of people live a life they think should be living according to society, friends, or family and end up with the realization that it was not the life they WANTED to live.

2.   I wish I discovered my purpose earlier.

The number of years you spend outside your purpose is the number of years you spend living another person’s life.

Some people never discover their purpose in life while some do it late in the game.

What is your life purpose?

3.   I wish I had taken more risks.

A common regret for those who are dying of an illness or ailment.

So many times, we take our body for granted and eat what we shouldn’t be eating, we don’t sleep as much as we should, we don’t exercise as often and in some cases, we work so hard, we forget to take a vacation.

Life should be lived with a balance and nourishing yourself so you can live a long, healthy and happy life should be a top priority.

5.   I wish I’d allowed myself to love.

Studies have concluded that people who have friends and close relationships with their families are much happier with their lives.
I am glad that I have many close friendship through my career in my journey.
Family becomes closer with my personal growth, and have many new found friendship when we constantly able to add value to others.

6.  I wish I had touched more lives and inspired more people

It is common for people who are dying to look back unhappy.

The value of a life can be measured by the number of people it touches.

Helping others not only benefits the person you’re helping but it benefits you inside as well.

There’s a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in doing for your fellow man that money just can’t buy.

Live your life with intentions to help and inspire others to become better and in return, you’ll be better for it as well.

7.  I wish I had been a better partner or parent

People who are dying have regrets whenever they think about their families.

Whether it be their mom, dad, siblings, spouses or children.  They think about the nice words they wish they would have said more often, feelings they wish they had expressed, times they wish they had spent and places they wish they could have gone with them.

The Golden Rule has changed

HSBC has done an interesting survey lately, on How much Singapore parents willing to scarify to send their child to University

Parents are seeing that, University degree is a golden ticket to enable the kid to be successful in future.

Globally, they are willing to forked out $15,623 yearly just for the children University fees. It's currently the third in the world.

Is this Golden rule still hold true?

"Go to school, study hard, and get good grades so you can get a secure, high-paying job with benefits—and your job will take care of you"

This is Industry Age thinking, In industry age, it's all about mass production, industrialization, whereby there are lots of labor works involved. Those who are able to graduate from University are highly respected and claimed to be able to have higher earning power.

The Golden Rule has changed, we are no longer living in that era. We are now in Information Age. Thanks to the technology advancement, the world shrinks.

Everything is globalized. Jobs are outsourced to cheaper locations easily, merger and acquisition happens just within few clicks, jobs can be automated instantly

You can see in major news headlines, highly trained professionals are out of job and it's getting harder to get back to workforce.

Which do you want to be?

95% of wealth are at the Right hand side at Business and Investment, which gives Passive Income

I used to be one of those who study hard, obtained my Asean Scholarship to study in NUS, going after Golden Rules.

While I was chasing after corporate ladder, I have seen how retrenchments happen at many of my seniors while I was working in Investment banks.

Thankfully that I have decided to make a switch in my destiny.

Given that I am going to work hard anywhere, why not I choose to work hard to build my Business System, to be Business Owner ?

Given that I am going to work hard anywhere, why not I choose to work hard on Passive Income

Active Income vs Passive Income

This is the best animation ever that it illustrates the different in active income and passive income.

Which one do you want to be?

Do you prefer to have a pipeline that generates endless passive income? Or you rather carry buckets of water on daily basis?
